CATHOLIC SPIRITUAL INSPIRATION DAILY – BY ROVAN PINTO.

SACRAMENTS ARE "POWERS THAT COMES FORTH" FROM THE BODY OF CHRIST, WHICH IS EVER-LIVING AND LIFE-GIVING. THEY ARE ACTIONS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AT WORK IN HIS BODY, THE CHURCH. THEY ARE "THE MASTERWORKS OF GOD" IN THE NEW AND EVERLASTING COVENANT.—CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH 1116.

We all Catholics know that GOD instituted 7 sacraments but most of us either abuse or reject or spread false knowledge about the sacraments.
Every sacrament has power built within and every time we receive the sacraments, we will be filled with joy and also we feel like our burdens are lightened.

BAPTISM

Infant baptism was instituted in the Catholic Church before any other denominations were born and the main reason of infant baptism is to wash our original sin and be filled with Holy Spirit. Saint Paul says in Colossians 2:11-12 that we will be circumcised not physically but spiritually in Christ. That is where infant circumcision was replaced by infant baptism.

CONFESSION

Confession or sacrament of reconciliation or sacrament of penance was instituted by Jesus after His resurrection and gave authority to HIS apostles to forgive sins on the earth and the same authority has been passed on by apostles to pope to cardinals to bishops to the priests. Every time we go for confession we can experience great joy inside us.

EUCHARIST

Eucharist is the centre of all sacraments we have because it is the body and blood of JESUS. We have to examine ourselves before we receive Holy Communion every time we attend Holy Mass and receive Eucharist in a worthy manner.

CONFIRMATION.

Confirmation is the sacrament which will renew our vows of baptism and we are confirmed to live a holy and righteous life and be a example to others around us. For "by the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed."

MATRIMONY.

Matrimony or marriage is a holy sacrament most of the Catholics abuse because of silly reasons. Many marriages are broken for silly reasons and misunderstanding. Many divorce their wife or husband in court and live with another man or woman and live a life of adultery. Many because of doing this are stuck with pain and sickness to make them realise their wrongs but very few realize and give up unholy relationships.

HOLY ORDERS.

The priests, nuns and deacons together are called Holy orders. In today’s world catholic priests imitate Jesus and nuns imitate Mother Mary. Both Jesus and Mother Mary were virgin and chaste till the end of their life. The same vow of chastity every priest and nuns take when they are ordained. Many of us by speaking against priests and nuns we speak against Holy orders instituted by Jesus.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK

This sacrament has to be given for everyone who are sick and on their deathbed so that through that they may recover. Most of us have wrong understanding that this sacrament is given for the sick so that they may die peacefully.

Let us understand that GOD instituted all this sacraments so that we may be benefited out of it and grow into holy and righteous person.
