We all Catholics go to priest for confession, This sacrament of confession was instituted by Jesus Christ( read John 20:21-23), This practice of confession is followed from long before any other denomination was born.

Most of the catholic take sacrament of confession for granted and some use it as a means to commit sin and then go and confess, some are scared and think what the priest will think of them and others just put off needlessly when they have opportunity to go for confession.

We have to understand that the sacrament of confession was instituted by Jesus Himself and gave the authority to forgive sins to the apostles and from apostles it has been passed on to the pope to the cardinals to the archbishops to the bishops to the priest.

This sacrament is followed by the Catholics from the olden days and today we find many taking inspiration from other denominations and trying to stay away from the sacrament.

We as Catholics should not bother about the priest or the sins we have to confess but we have to take confession seriously which will bring lot of changes in our life and also will help us to live a holy and righteous life.

We have to use the sacrament of sacrament regularly so that our sins are reduced and also we will increase in knowledge and Grace. Let us not abuse this sacrament by sinning deliberately after knowing the truth and honour this sacrament which will reconcile us back to GOD.

Today there is lots of conflict with lukewarm Catholics about confession and also because of disagreements many ordinary people have left Catholic Church and joined other denomination to gain selfish benefits and simply without knowing the whole truth they preach against confession of sins to the priest and they preach we can confess it directly to GOD.

We have to understand we do not have to see who is the priest when we go for confession because every priest taking our confession will act as person in Christ.

Every priest has a vow to keep all sins they listen confidential so that they may not reveal to others. In today’s Global crisis when all the churches are closed we have to appreciate the work of all priest who are celebrating Holy mass which we can watch on TV or Internet.

Let us make all effort to encourage every priest because without them we do not have anyone to listen to our confession and also to celebrate the Holy mass
